Women’s Health Acupuncture & Massage

Supporting women through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum & menopause

Barbara Moss is immensely passionate about the treatment of acupuncture. Barbara has been practicing acupuncture for 30 years and studied at the esteemed London School of Acupuncture, where she qualified in 1995 as a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her research projects in her third year of practice was on pain analgesia during childbirth, which turned out to be a welcome edition for the treatment of women during active labour. Barbara went on to being one of London’s leading women’s health and obstetric acupuncturists. And, to this day, she continues to work with leading gynecologists and obstetricians. She worked along side the infamous Obstetrician Yehudi Gordon who pioneered active births with Michel Odent introducing to St. John’s Wood London, and became a fine example for the country to implement within their own hospital units. They were the first obstetrics unit in the UK to exemplify how active birth could benefit women and their babies.

Her work focused on issues commonly experienced during pregnancy and labour such as induction, reducing pain, treating nausea, and morning sickness (hyperemesis), managing breech births, promoting in-fetal growth, and addressing issues such as haemorrhoids and varicose veins. Barbara also used acupuncture to naturally stimulate labour by activating the body’s production of oxytocin, helping to make the birthing process more comfortable and timely, reducing c-sections and episiotomy by 30% on the unit. Although Barbara specialises in women’s health she is an acupuncturist to all women, men, teenagers, and children, with whatever they come with. Her knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and soft tissue conditions often caused by injury are seen and treated in her practice. She uses soft tissue massage to combine with some acupuncture treatments if necessary. Barbara says that acupuncture is in her DNA by now and will be practicing as long as she can pick her needles.
